ELF are the first initials of our three children, Eily, Lyra and Felix.   We are expecting our fourth child this summer, the little dot after ELF represents him.

The sunflower is significant for a few reasons. The photo on the homepage of this site is a sunflower that our oldest daughter grew in our front yard.  It became a big part of our lives as our children became fascinated with caring for the flower and watching it grow. Within months of planting the seed, the sunflower was taller than all of them!

The icon in the ELF logo represents the center of the sunflower, which is a form of Fermat’s spiral. The angle 137.5° is related to the golden ratio (55/144 of a circular angle, where 55 and 144 are Fibonacci numbers) and gives a close packing of florets.
